Meet Our Staff
James C. Mulder, Attorney at law
Co-Founder and Co-Owner of the firm James C. Mulder was awarded a Bachelor of Science (Zoology) with honors, by Texas A&M University in 1970. In 1976, he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Bates College of
Law at the University of Houston.
Mr. Mulder has over thirty years of experience in Estate, Tax and Business planning. He is Board Certified in Estate Planning & Probate Law and in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. One of only fifteen attorneys in the Houston area Board certified in both Estate Planning & Probate Law and Tax Law.
Mr. Mulder concentrates his practice primarily in estate, tax, and asset protection planning. The implementation of such planning includes the preparation of very comprehensive wills, trusts, business organizations and family partnerships. Mr. Mulder has prepared over 1,000 family limited partnerships.
He has a substantial practice in probate, in estate administration, and in matters related to wills, trusts, guardianships, as well. He also frequently lectures on matters ranging from reducing income taxes to advanced wealth
preservation strategies.
He is a member of the Houston Bar Association, of the State Bar of Texas and of the American Bar Association,
Taxation section. Additionally, he received his Certified Financial Planner designation in 1982.
He is a member of The New Haven Fellowship. He is a retired Captain in the United States Naval Reserve.
When James relaxes away from the law practice you'll find him watching the Astros in Minute Maid Park, taking pictures with the latest digital camera, or on the golf course. He and his wife, Donna, live in The Woodlands with
their two Corgis, Annie & Toby.
Robert M. Freedman, Attorney at law
Co-Founder and Co-Owner of the firm
Robert M. Freedman received his undergraduate degree in Government from the University of Texas in 1974. He
earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston, Bates College of Law in 1977.
Robert is authorized by the Supreme Court of the State of Texas to practice in all the courts in the State of
Texas. He is also authorized to practice law before three Federal Courts in the Southern District of Texas.
Robert has been appointed to serve on the State Bar of Texas Standing Committee on Paralegals.
In 1990, he moved to Europe and worked as a researcher and lobbyist for Greenpeace International. He
represented the organization before the European Union in Brussels and the United Nations Environmental Programme in
Geneva.
He also studied at the University of Amsterdam and became fluent in Dutch. He returned stateside in 1995.
In addition to his responsibilities to the firm, Mr. Freedman serves on the advisory committee for the Center for Advance Legal
Studies. He is also in charge of the research curriculum at the school.
Over the past several years, he has presented numerous continuing education workshops on Medicaid Planning to
elder care professionals through out the Houston area.
He is a member in good standing of the National Academy of Elder Law
Attorneys (NAELA) and an active contributor to the NAELA Texas Chapter, as well.
He enjoys annual travel to Europe to visit
his wife's family there. He and his wife, Catherine, live in southwest Houston.
Donna Cooper
Case Manager and Client Care Services
Donna Cooper's calm way and level head gives her the unique ability to help clients move easily through the maze of Medicaid qualification, often during a time of great stress.
Her duties here include: collecting client data, assisting clients with gathering the information they sometimes didn't even realize they had, and then shepherding our clients' information through the planning process and guiding all Medicaid applications along to completion.
She is a mother of two and will soon be a grandmother. She lives in Houston with her dog, Maggie. |
